As a young man, Degen grew up hunting, fishing, and playing sports with his friends. Degen was a Boy Scout and earned the rank of Eagle Scout at age fifteen. During his time in high school, Degen was a member of the football, basketball, track, and golf teams. Degen lettered in all sports he played, earning a total of twelve athletic letters in high school. Degen was recruited to play college football and eventually committed to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks Football Team. During his time at the University of Arkansas, Degen played under head coach Houston Nutt. Degen developed lifelong friendships and learned valuable life lessons as a member of the Razorback football team which continue positively impact his life to this day. 

After his time at the University of Arkansas, Degen went on to obtain a degree in Cardio-Pulmonary Care from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Before becoming an attorney, Degen was an Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner. He worked at one of the largest hospitals in the state. During this time, he specialized in critical care and Nitric Oxide Ventilation during artificial heart transplant surgeries. 

Degen always had an interest in law and eventually he decided to peruse that interest and attend law school in the heart of Central Arkansas where he received his Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law. During his time in law school, Degen clerked for the Arkansas Securities Department where he worked in regulating the trading of securities. Degen then accepted a position as a law clerk for the Pulaski County Prosecutor’s Office where he eventually received an offer to practice law as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the 6th Judicial District of Arkansas. 

After graduating law school, Degen began his legal career prosecuting cases from Misdemeanors to the most serious Felonies. As a prosecutor, Degen lived in the courtroom and honed his skills as a trial attorney. This experience as a prosecutor allows Degen to analyze cases from both sides and evaluate the best strategy to achieve his clients’ goals. After years of prosecuting criminal cases, Degen joined forces with his friend and then business partner in private practice to build one of the most successful, technologically advanced, and client focused firms in Arkansas. Degen now leads the team at Clow Law which provides top legal services to Arkansans across the state. Degen loves Arkansas and now lives in Benton with his wife Lauren and their four children, Davis, Arden, McCall and Greer.

During his time as an attorney, Degen has had the privilege of having some of the best attorneys in the country as his legal mentors. Degen has also had the privilege of being elected as a special judge and has presided over many cases in Central Arkansas. These experiences give Degen a unique perspective and in-depth understanding of the innerworkings of the legal system. 

Degen is licensed to practice law in all Arkansas state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas.
